Trails of a Minimalist

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 23, 2009, 12:20 PM

Wow, I just went through and threw out SO MUCH of my things... I deleted almost all my old emails, deleted nearly all my old notes, threw out all these old papers I'd held onto... donated TONS of old clothes and books. I threw out old notebooks I had, old receipts I'd kept... all kinds of shit.

And holy FUCK I feel so great!!! I really like this new 'minimalist' thing I've got going on... it's nice not to worry about everything you have... and really, how important are some things?

I posted a poll because now I'm wondering how everything else is. Do you keep things? Throw everything out? Or are you a little of both?? I guess I've got winter-cleaning-fever!

Just in case anyone noticed...

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 20, 2009, 7:47 AM

I went through and disabled comments on a LOT of my stuff. If not all of it. I realized that I spent way too much time hoping that I'd just collect comments and tried to find satisfaction in knowing that people 'liked' something. As nice as some comments are, and how much I've appreciated them, I don't want to do things just to get comments... I'd rather not worry about what people will think of them and just do what I'd like to do.

I also deleted a bunch of stuff out of my gallery. Hopefully nothing you particularly loved was deleted. If it was, sorry ^^;

If there's anything comment-wise that you definitely wanted to say to me, or something along those lines, you can always note me if you feel the urge to. Unless I specify ask for comments - like my last deviation of the 'twilight wolf' - I probably will keep comments disabled in the future.

ASK ME ANYTHING!

Like =jisuk (and others, I'm sure), I started an account on formspring. Here's my page - [link] Ask me anything! It's so fun answering questions! And you can do so anonymously, too, so if there's anything you've been shy to ask, feel free to do so now!

Finally an adult - recap on my bat mitzvah!

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 7, 2009, 7:53 AM

This last Saturday, December 5th, 2009 - I finally became a bat mitzvah. I was up almost all night the night before. I wasn't really nervous or anything - I was just so excited. SO many of my friends and family were going to be there and I wanted to impress them.

We got up pretty early Saturday morning, and by we, I mean me, my husband Greg, and his mom, who had spent the night. We walked down to Svea, the kick ass Swedish diner a block from my house, for some breakfast. Then we went back home, got ready, and my mom and sister *Snitter drove up to the apartment. I called up *Dubhghall to see where he was - he was driving in from Detroit, the poor bastard, and he was actually right in front of our car. *dies*

We drove over to my temple and we did a quick run through of the event. I was so proud of my friend Matt - he was doing one of the blessings for me (you say a blessing before you read from the Torah, and for a bar/bat mitzvah, they break it up into as many parts as they can, LOL). My friend Matt is Jewish but has NO connection to it really - so when I asked him to do a blessing for me, he was pretty sure he couldn't do it. Holy fuck, he did it so wonderfully! He'd been practicing like crazy for it ;) and I was so proud of him!

I was really happy that BOTH my mom and my dad came - there had been some uncertainty beforehand whether or not they were both going to be there, so I'm glad that they were able to both be there. :P

I had to laugh, too, because when my rabbi asked how many people out there was in a temple for the first time, like, I'd say 2/3 of the people raised their hands! :giggle: But everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.

I totally nailed by Torah portion, too. There was one point when I forgot the chanting, but my cantor was able to whisper it to me and I went on without a hitch. WOOT! I was even happier when an Israeli friend of mine told me that I should try to tutor kids because my Hebrew was so good! *blushies* I was even happier happier when my dad asked where I learned to chant so well. *faints*

All in all, it was a really good bat mitzvah! As far as bat mitzvahs go. I had such a blast and I was so happy for all the peeps who were able to go. Now I just have to bug *Snitter to send me pictures again. :paranoid:

Me? Twilight? Believe it.

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 3, 2009, 4:50 PM

LOL

Okay, okay, here's some explaining. I didn't read Twilight or liked it or anything... honestly, with the craziness we witnessed in Forks/Port Angeles, I don't know if I could ever really tolerate it... much.

I will tolerate it enough to collaborate on a Twilight-themed knit book! I'm making two wolf plushies for the book. I'm already like, 1/2 through with one of them! :D I can't wait to see what they look like when they're all done! The legs are so adorable already!

LOL, so if anyone's a fan of Twilight and knits, keep your eyes out for that one! It might be the first book out with a project of mine in it... so yeah! :D I am ashamed I will be buying a Twilight-themed thing, LOL!
