:star: Send me a screenshot of my 50K and get a free amigurumi!!

*If you have any questions which are not on here, comment them to me and I'll answer!*

I decided to update this since people are still asking for commissions...

:orange: Commissions!! :orange:

Are you taking commissions now?
No. Unfortunately doing commissions has been keeping me from doing projects I really want to do. So until further notice, I will not be doing them.

How much do you charge?
That all depends. Anything that I'm going to sell will be in my etsy account. [link] Generally smaller things like owls are around $20 and bigger amigurumis are about $100.

How do I know if you're working on my commission?
Check my journal. I update my "currently working on" section just about every day.

When will you be taking commissions again?
Again, check my journal. I will most likely let everyone know the moment that I can take them again. It may be a year, it might just be a few months. I just really, really, really need to get some creative ideas out.

CAN I PLEASE COMMISSION YOU!?!!?111!
No. Honestly. Even if you've been talking to me for years, I am not cutting anyone any special breaks. Trust me, and please realize that by not doing commissions, I'm going to be doing projects that I've been yearning to do for some time. I don't mean to torture you for not taking commissions. Please just respect that there are things I haven't been able to work on because commissions have been getting in the way.

Okay, so I can't commission you. Can I request that you make something instead?
Yes! :D You can definately request me to make something. I may or may not make it, but if it tickles my fancy, I'll give it a try! Whenever I am finished, you can have first dibs on buying it, but you're not obligated to do so.

:orange: About me! :orange:

Who are you? Where do you go to school?
Nicki Timian. I'm a history major/anthropology minor/Honors Program-doer (?) at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. I'm also a volunteer at the Adler Planetarium [link] and an all-around nerd.

Where does your screen name come from?
Deke is from Deke Slayton ([link] ), who has been a hero/role model of mine for a while. And Nicki is my name. *And Deke sounds like 'freak' and 'geek.' It does not rhyme with my name.

:orange: Knitting! :orange:

Preferred needles: DPN or circs? Circs or straights? wood or alumnium or plastic?
Currently it's DPNs. I use bamboo ones because if I am only doing something that's seven stitches wide, it helps to hold them on the needle. If I use circular needles, I use addi turbos. I always use size 7 needles. ^____^

Do you find charts or make your own?
Everything I knit is my own design. I make up my own patterns and my own designs. The designs I either make by drawing out the design on grid paper, or I find a picture and alter it in photoshop so that the pixels will be as big as the design. (So, for a hat, it's usually 20rows by 20stitches, so I'll alter the design to be 20 pixels by 20 pixels)

Are you in the group which loves wool and recognizes that people are allergic, or are you in the group of wool-lovers who refuse to believe all the world's ills cannot be cured with wool?
Well, it depends. I usually use acrylic yarns because it's cheaper. Lately though, especially with my amigurumi projects, I have been using real wool. If someone is allergic to wool, I won't use it. LOL - so yeah, I love wool but I do recognize that some people can't use it! :D

What made you decide to start knitting?
I used to read BUST magazine all the time, and they had an article in there about this group in London that would ride the Tube and teach people how to knit. I thought it was like, the coolest thing in the world so I bought a knitting magazine and taught myself how to!

What's the first thing you made?
A Harry Potter scarf for my sister! I didn't really know what to make, and I found a pattern for one online. This was before I even read the Harry Potter books! I just knew my sister liked it! So I knitted it in secret while she was at school.

How long does it take you to knit one hat?
Anywhere from 6-12 hours. It's funny but the hats that are more complicated usually take the shortest amount of time because they are more fun and challenging and I want to work on them! Boring hats I just keep putting off and even when I knit them I'm just like, struggling through it!

Where do you get your eyes?
From my mummy and daddy. Jk. From here [link]

What inspired you to start making amigurumis?
Enough said [link] She is a genius.

Can you teach me how to knit?
No, I really have no idea how I can do that. I am working on a pattern book, but for the basics, try [link]

I have a commission/art trade/request from you and I want to know how far you are. What do all the percents mean?
Well, 10% generally means that I have finished planning out a commission. It means I have something worked out, I have all the patterns planned onto grid paper. 25% generally means I have 1/4 done, 50% 1/2 done and so on.

Okay, what about shipping?
When you commission me, send me an addy. I generally don't use the one that they give me through paypal becuase I know people move without updating stuff. Please give me a coherent address. I DO NOT ship with insurance unless you REQUEST it - meaning IF IT DOES NOT ARRIVE IT IS NOT MY FAULT. You can request any shipping method you wish, as long as you'll pay the extra for it, but if you don't get it on your end, it's not my fault. Period.

What if the mail loses my package? Will you replace it?
No. Honestly, no. Unless you pay me to make a whole new one, I do NOT replace things. Once again, if you're worried about not getting something, pay more for shipping insurance or UPS or something. I'm sorry, but I will not replace anything lost in the mail.

What if I want an art trade?
I might be interested in an art trade, but only if I am REALLY interested in what you want me to do and ONLY if I am REALLY a fan of your art. Send me a note.

I have a question: Why are you so awesome?

--
I don't know the meaning of the word "surrender". I mean, I know it, I'm not dumb... just not in this context.

I'm a doctor, not an escalator.
:icondekenicki:
That's a question that would take all the resources of the Fermi Lab to decifer... to which I unfortunately do not have access :C I would have to take the lame way out and say... because I rock so hard.

It seems to me the only thing you've learned is that Caesar is a "salad dressing dude."
:iconholls:
We will have to run tests on you! Make you run through mazes and the like.

:w00t: HELLS YEAH!!! OMG, that would be hilarious to have people mazes!! *dies* I was in a maze once like that at this one local amusement park, but I got so totally lost :C So the person who was standing up in this tower watching people had to give me directions... and then a ton of people cheated... :C

There's a corn maze near us, but I think I'd just get claustrophobic and start crashing through the walls.
